Half Time Show for the #100dayproject

It's the half time show!  We are 50 + days into the The 100 day project #the100dayproject! Whoop Whoop!

I have loved playing and following along. I am always amazed at just how crazy creative people are. So impressed.

Here is a little round up of some of my favourites that I would like to share with you.

Julie Hamilton Creative - #the100dayproject

Mine first because I am writing the blog!

My #sketchbook_studies project is coming along nicely. Thanks you! I have explored gouache paint, some new flowers and abstract compositions, pattern making and color play. I am having quite a bit of fun with it and have managed to use a bit of what I have learned and created in some of my art licensing projects which is a win win for me.

Next we have Alli VanGruen, my friend and neighbour here in Whistler. She has taken on #100daysofmepainting Above we have her chair series which I love, love, love, but she also has some wonderful animals and portraits. If you look closely through her feed you may even find a painted one of me! In a bikini no less..

Janice Law -#the100dayproject blogpost by Julie Hamilton Creative

Illustrated food is always a favourite of mine. Janice Law of @100eats is doing just that for her project #100_eats. Lots of great images and lovely dark backgrounds.

Pauline Van Eijle - #the100dayproject blogpost by Julie Hamilton Creative

Botanical loveliness and awesome color is what Pauline is all about for her project #100daysofgreenery. Love all of her sketchy, stamped and painted images.

Heather Almeda - #the100dayproject blogpost by Julie Hamilton Creative

Heather had me at Aloha for her project #100daysofpaintingaloha She inspires me to pick up a paintbrush and paint bold, colourful scenes from my happy place. I have yet to do so, but for now will happily spend my time looking through her feed.

Rebecca Howdeshell -#the100dayproject blogpost by Julie Hamilton Creative

Next up we have Rebecca and her project #100daysofredart. A lovely mixture of collage and pen work on watercolour paper. I love all of her shapes and linework. She manages to keep it all beautiful while leaving just the right amount of white space.

Very berry Handmade - #the100dayproject blogpost by Julie Hamilton Creative

Ali of Very Berry Handmade creates compositions using material, coloured threads and pattern to create #100daysofcuratedcolor. I love all the texture and color combinations she comes up with. I also love things organized nicely into flatlays.

Lisa Ekstrom -#the100dayproject blogpost by Julie Hamilton Creative

Finally we have Lisa and her project #100daysoabstractstorybook. So much wonderful color and mark making. Every time I look at them I find something new to see. Her project is actually 900 + days long! She has an instagram feed full of  inspirational goodness.

These are just a few of the awesome creative projects going on. Pop on over to the hashtag #the100dayproject for more inspiration.

Enjoy the week everyone! I hope you  have a bit of time to pull out the paintbrushes:)

A little Mix & Mingle

Some more mark making in the sketchbook. I love making marks. I could sit and make marks all day long..

It gives me an opportunity to play with different colour combinations, new brushes and lots of different medium.

It's fun. Stress-free and simple.

Don't worry about the outcome - just make them knowing that the ones you love can always be re-created by you. They are a great resource to have for inspiration when it comes to any art making.

I generally work on large pieces of mixed media paper. These can then be cut up into smaller compositions. If I find something I really like then it can easily be transferred or glued onto a wooden cradle board. More to come on that later!

In search of the perfect composition....

Often I don't find the perfect composition....

That is when the scissors come out.

Marks all cut up and then re-arranged to find something pleasing to my eye.

I played around with this one for awhile until I felt satisfied with the outcome. It's interesting and there are definitely parts that I will take away with me for the next try, but I don't love all of it. That's just part of the game.

If you are interested in playing around and getting your creative ya-ya's out this summer then pop over to The Jealous Curator.

Danielle has a fun summer camp program full of artist interviews, creative exercises, interesting arty tidbits and good old general fun on her podcast. Come play along - you can start anytime! Hashtag on Instagram is #AFYECamp. This week is all about mark making. Did I mention it's free?

It came about at a good time for me as I hit the 50th day mark of The 100 Day Project. I am definitely in need of a  bit of inspiration for my #sketchbook_studies project

The sun is finally shining here in Whistler. Wow - wet, very wet winter. All the snow was awesome, but the April rain showers were a bit much!.

Hope the sun is shining wherever you are!
